The services provided by a business coach are quite similar to that of a sports coach, the only difference is that business coaching is undertaken for the benefit of an organization. Business coaching not only aims at improving individual performance but also concentrates on improving team performance.
Helps in unlocking hidden potential:
Just as a sports coach helps in unlocking the real potential of players, a business coach helps the employees to improve their working skills. Most successful business coaches know that every employee has the potential to perform above expectations. The only thing required is proper guidance and the confidence that he can achieve the set goal and objective. The aligning of personal and professional goals of the employees with organizational goals and objectives enables the business coach to increase productivity and maximizing profitability. This helps in the increase of profitability and success in a very short time.
Offers more than a standalone business consultant:
People often confuse business coaching with business consulting. Both are very different from each other and are undertaken for achieving different set of goals and objectives. In business consulting, the consultant offers you solutions to your queries, based on his knowledge, experience and technical qualifications. Business consulting is more like gambling in which you win some and lose some. The advice provided by the consultant may or may not work in solving your problems. In comparison, business coaching allows the employees to explore and find the solutions for themselves. It just provides the right guidance, which may not seem much help, but is very essential when it comes to unlocking the true potential of an individual. It takes a great amount of skill and patience to be able to connect with the employees, which can only be made possible with the help of a business coach. The coach provides the necessary guidance to the employee or team members. This helps them to overcome common organizational problems.
Helps employees to do a SWOT analysis:
A business coach will help your employees to identify their weaknesses and strengths. The coach will also provide guidance to enable them to overcome their weaknesses, not by any special methods or techniques, but just by motivating them to concentrate on the core areas. These areas being those in which they feel they can excel and produce the desired results. Just like a sports coach, a business coach helps to develop the right attitude and confidence, which is necessary for enhancing team spirit and reducing the reluctance to work. Employees get empowered and feel more confident to take work-related decisions, which in turn will help in improving organizational efficiency.
A business coach enables the employees to understand the aims and objectives of the company. This helps them to contribute to the overall success of the organization. Employees learn the techniques to improve interpersonal relations with their peers as well as with their subordinates, resulting in increased cooperation between associate team members. This helps in increasing organizational efficiency, necessary for increasing productivity and improving quality.
Successful businesses and organizations know how to balance their employee’s careers with an enhanced lifestyle to create positive attitudes throughout the workforce. AXACT Inc is the poster child for companies that know how to offer their employees lifestyle benefits that serve to enhance both their personal and professional lives. For example, employees can partake in a huge database of music they’re free to listen to as they work, creating playlists that are only accessible to them. They can even create their own music CD’s from the songs they listen to the most, or download them to their iPOD, cell phone or other portable music device.
A company that prides itself on offering lifestyle benefits to their employees, AXACT Inc knows that positive attitudes in the workplace directly stem from how a company treats their employees. Offering excellent lifestyle benefits enhances an employees attitude towards their work and can increase productivity and market value for both the company and the individual dramatically. In addition to the variety of in-house activities AXACT Inc offers to their employees (such as a movie theater, live music and a swimming pool, just to name a few,) the company also allows workers to take advantage of a gorgeous seaside hut to take their families to on vacation. The hut is also used for various workplace meetings and company picnics, as well.
The world’s best companies earned the title for their innovative blend of balancing a full-time career with lifestyle benefits for their employees. Work isn’t all fun and games, but the best companies know that happy employees are productive employees, and they take measures to ensure their workers are satisfied with their job. To minimize downtime and lost productivity due to ill workers, AXACT Inc offers all of their employees amazing lifestyle benefits that include a fully equipped fitness center, onsite clinic, a salon, and a 5-star cafeteria that tastes like a meal you cooked from scratch at your own home. Employees can also ensure they’re never strapped for a snack by visiting one of the kiosks on each floor.
By merging personal development with professional goals, companies can improve their chances of success. By creating an atmosphere where both the business and the employees benefit, increased product yield and higher market values are byproducts of positive employee attitudes. Because work is such a large part of many people’s lives, balancing a profession with essential lifestyle benefits everyone needs to take advantage of at some point is a surefire way to keep employees healthy, happy, and satisfied with both their personal and work lives. A satisfied employee means a productive employee, and this means their work performance will not suffer.
In addition to recreational lifestyle benefits, AXACT Inc offers employees true growth potential to enhance their abilities and ensure they never get bored doing the same old thing time and time again. By enriching an employee’s professional potential, companies create an environment where learning takes center stage and growth opportunities abound. From state of the art training programs to a fully stocked library, AXACT employees can take advantage of a full range of learning materials to ensure their potential is put to good use. AXACT even offers excellent financial support services to ensure their employees needs are being met. From home loans to medical insurance to retirement benefits and everything in between, the company cares about the well-being of its employees and their families and strive to create an atmosphere where workers are taken care of even after their careers with the company have come to an end.
A successful balance between personal lifestyle and a career is essential to creating productive, happy employees. Most of the world’s recognized companies have received such status because of their innovative ideas and how they treat their employees. Successful organizations will realize that positive workplace attitudes are the foundation to building a productive business. To achieve these results, AXACT Inc offers their employees a full range of extensive lifestyle benefits to ensure they’re kept satisfied in both their personal and professional lives, which results in improved performance for the company. Almost all successful businesses have succeeded because they value their employees skills and talents and offer them benefits that only serve to enhance their performance levels for as long as they stay with the business.

This article is based on the following book: Profitable Growth
Is Everyone’s Business “10 Tools You Can Use Monday Morning” By
Ram Charan Published by Crown Publishing Group, 2004 ISBN
1-4000-5152-5 198 pages
The days of ruthless downsizing and drastic cost cutting are
long gone. Nowadays, companies have realized that the best way
to earn profit is only through growth - profitable growth. In
this book, author Ram Charan provides 10 tools anyone can use to
hurdle obstacles and achieve profitable growth.
These tools are:
1. Revenue growth is everyone’s business, so make it part of
everyone’s daily work routine.
2. Hit many singles and doubles, not just home runs.
3. Seek good growth and avoid bad growth.
4. Dispel the myths that inhibit both people and organizations
from growing.
5. Turn the idea of productivity on its head by increasing
revenue productivity.
6. Develop and implement a growth budget.
7. Beef up upstream marketing.
8. Understand how to do effective cross-selling (or
value/solutions selling).
9. Create a social engine to accelerate revenue growth.
10. Operationalize innovation by converting ideas into revenue
growth.
One of the most critical points discussed is the need for
re-orientation of thinking. Most businessmen and executives
think about growth as “home-runs” and more often than not
disregard the “singles and doubles”. Managers often look forward
to the big breakthrough or the grand new product without
realizing that home runs don’t happen everywhere - sometimes,
they don’t even happen in a decade.
Instead of aiming for that one grand home run, aim for singles
and doubles. This is a surer and more consistent path. Of
course, it is important to note that while aiming for singles
and doubles, one should not exclude home runs. These singles and
doubles come from an in-depth analysis of ALL the fundamentals
of a business.
Another factor to be considered is the difference between good
growth and bad growth. Managers should dispel the myth that
growth in whatever form is a victory. Although growth (both good
and bad) builds revenue, only good growth increases not only
revenues but also improves profits and is sustainable over time.
Bad growth, on the other hand, lowers shareholder value. Unwise
mergers and acquisitions are examples of bad growth. Price
cutting to gain market share without cutting costs can also be
detrimental to your company’s health.
Here are some questions that can help you diagnose whether or
not you are part of a growth business:
1. What percentage of time and emotional energy does the
management team routinely devote to revenue growth?
2. Are there just exhortations and talk about growth or is there
actually follow through?
3. Do managers talk about growth only in terms of home runs? Do
they understand the importance of singles and doubles for
long-term, sustained organic growth?
4. How much of each management team member’s time is devoted to
making effective visits with customers? Do they do more than
listen and probe for information and then try to “connect the
dots”?
5. Does the management team come into contact with the final
user of your product?
6. Are people in the business clear about what the specific
future sources of revenue growth will be? Do they know who is
accountable?
7. Would you characterize your company or business unit’s
culture as cost cutting or growth oriented? If the answer is one
or another you need to start doing both. Do people in leadership
positions have the skill, orientation, and determination to grow
revenues?
8. Does the company practice revenue productivity? Does it think
through whether there are ways to more effectively use current
resources to generate higher revenues?
9. How well does your sales force extract intelligence from
customers and other players in the marketplace? How well is this
information communicated and acted on by other parts of your
organization, such as product development?
10. How good are the upstream marketing skills- that is, the
ability to segment markets and identify consumer attributes- in
your business?

If you find it hard to go on with your work in the office because of so many distractions that come your way, do not lose hope. The best advice to follow is not to totally avoid the distractions because that is next to impossible but to deal with them with iron willpower. For some, avoiding distractions may work.
Distractions at work are a part of a worker’s life and he should learn to accept that. He should develop the right skills of how to successfully deal with distractions like adaptability, flexibility and the ability to adjust in any given situation for his own good or he can go insane everyday of his life. There are a lot of distractions from every corner wherever he might be doing his work. In an office environment, these are the primary nuisances:
Poor lighting office space has no windows, the worker suffers from glares on his computer monitor and absence of natural lighting
Poor ventilation worker can smell smoke coming from cigarettes or chemical fumes that can be dangerous to ones health
Poor office space layout the inconvenience of reaching out for supplies and having a very cluttered workspace
Crowded workspace this is also a case of poor office layout where people are so close to each other that there is no more space for movements and the privacy of each one suffers
Noise if all of the above mentioned are a carbon copy of what your office environment is like then be prepared for a lot of unnecessary noises from phones, printers, scanners, photocopiers and over-the-desk, non-stop chatting of other workers.
The same is true if you are a freelancer and striking to earn a living without leaving the premises of your comfort zone your home. The nuisances can be a combination of these:
Loved ones such as children, spouses, relatives or even Housemates.
Household chores.
Internet, television and PlayStation.
Whether you are working in an office or at home does not really matter but how you manage and come-up with effective strategies to best deal with the distractions is the way to go to be successful in your work endeavors. Here are some effective lists of to-dos for office workers and freelancers.
I. Office setting
Make an inventory of all the noises around you and list down possible solutions to eliminate the distractions. This may include moving all the noisy machines near your desk, constructing physical barriers such as insulation covers and implementing rules on how to keep the noise low. The key to this arrangement is to notify the right person and offer the solutions you think might help.
If you experience poor ventilation, again the right way to do it is inform the person in charge but never do it without doing your homework. Ask around or conduct a survey of the staff with regards to how they feel about smoking and try to craft rules that would benefit most of the staff like a no smoking policy.
Arrange your office workspace in such a way that you do not block traffic in your area but establish partitions to reduce people hanging out on your desk while working and importantly put the supplies you frequently needed near you so that you do not have to stand up to get them.
To resolve poor lighting, it is best to notify the right person and ask if they can install fluorescents in your workspace. It may cost a little but good lighting heightens morale and productivity that it outweighs the costs of additional lights installed.
For long term benefits, request for some assertiveness training from your HR or training department. In this way you will be trained how to identify your needs and provide alternative solutions to help improve your workspace.
Disability Disorders break times and often continue working while eating at the same time on their desk. Take time to stand up, do some exercises, and eat some fruits and drink water to relieve your tensions and avoid irritation in the little nuisances that still may come your way.
II. Work-at-home setting
Run. If you cannot ignore the distractions at home, the best way to do is to run away from them and find your working spot in a public library, coffee shop or a partner’s house. These are good alternatives because of the coziness of the spaces and hi-speed internet connection you will get from these spots.
Hide. In the case of not wanting to leave home because most of the things you need are there, why not establish an office space at your house like in a spare room, part of your garage, laundry area or a big closet anywhere that you think is free from distractions.
Fight. This is something very hard to do with all the nuisances in your house. But if you implement rules and regulations for your loved ones this can smoothen the process of your work. Try to be as professional as you can be within your house during your work time so that they get the signal.
Like stress and other work-related traps, distractions are much a part of a working environment whether the set-up is in an office or at home. The ability to deal with them and work with your situation as a worker will test your stamina and determination to continue what you do best. Your adaptability, adjustability and flexibility will help you survive and shine in your work field.
Studies show that there are more than 20 million people who work from the home. Some do this part time while others have decided to quit the day job and focus on it.
Does working from the home make money than a regular job? This really depends on how much effort that the entrepreneur puts into it. But given that many people are doing it, it means there is something there worth checking out.
Here are some of the advantages of working from the home.
1. The entrepreneur gets to set the work hours. This means those who don’t feel like working during the morning can take care of everything in the afternoon or evening. Though some companies allow the employees to work from the home, this is not always possible when under someone’s payroll.
2. Working in the office always has a toll on the family. Studies show that this is one of the many reasons why there are cases of infidelity and divorce in the United States. Staying at home allows the entrepreneur to spend time with the kids and with the spouse.
This will also be great when taking care of the old folk. Money can be saved by spending time with these people there rather than shuffling to the nursing home.
3. Working from the home also works well when dealing with the government. This is because the person can get some tax benefits thus paying less when filing for income tax. The entrepreneur should talk with an accountant on the proper steps to make this possible.
4. A lot of people spend a hour or more driving to and from the office. Those who decide to work from the home don’t have to spend that much for gas anymore given that everything that needed is on the table.
5. A certain percentage of those who are working from the home are disabled. This used to be a hindrance but not anymore given that those who decide to use the computer or laptop won’t have a hard time connecting online since wireless technology is readily available.
6. Another study compared the productivity of those who work in an office with those who work at home. It showed that people who do the same thing inside the house are to perform much better because there are no distractions standing in the way to get the job done.
A productive person is a happy worker. This is because the entrepreneur is able to balance time between the duties of being a breadwinner and the role as a parent. If the individual is having a hard time balancing it, perhaps it is time to leave and start to work from the home.
What type of work can be done at home? This really depends on the skills of the individual. Sometimes going back to school is the trick while others may rely on a passion or a hobby that was never given that much attention in the past.
Will there be some hard days ahead? Most businesses start out slowly before becoming successful so the answer is yes. The entrepreneur will soon be able to reap the benefits of the endeavor after conducting the necessary research and eventually getting the hang of things.

I encourage everybody to try the 90 day challenge to keep yourself accountable for your success
It is no surprise that everyone wants to accelerate their productivity (maximum results in minimum time), in their business. But that should not be our main focus. If you want to be dynamic in your business and achieve the impossible you have to learn and focus on using the ultimate skill of leverage.
Leverage here is defined as (maximum productivity with minimum effort). Study the difference in the underlined words above.
It would be physically impossible for one person to manage or grow an organization of 10,000 people. And yet the richest people in the world were able to leverage themselves by creating and managing organizations of 10s of thousands of people. That is the very reason they are rich. For example, Bill Gates managed to create phenomenal leverage. He employs 70,000 people so he is leveraged 70,000 to 1. So how is it that with the imagination, vision, and dream of one person can come an organization of so much productivity. Very simple and very clever.
They discovered the secret of virtualizing the physical enterprise.
The best way to virtualize is simply to leverage human activities and replace them with automated activities.
A great example of how one best-selling author replaced human effort with leveraged automation is Jack Canfield with The Success Principles.
Virtualization is the process of transforming redundant human activities into single efforts
virtual is defined as, results such as replacing many physical activities or materials with virtual sessions or replicas(eBooks).
Now that we understand the importance of these skills and mindset, we see that to work smarter is not necessary working harder or working more. It is knowing how to create leverage and not letting what seems to be your physical abilities get in the way of your mental abilities. Your mind is so powerful it has the ability to work through 10s of thousands of people.
