Cool Things That We Gather Throughout Life
There are number of cool things that we gather throughout life and our living of it. Of course, what is ‘cool’ in one person’s eyes can be seriously uncool in another person’s eyes, so never forget that as you go through your life hungrily looking for things to collect. Still, much fun can be had in the gathering of it, though gathering certain intangible things may be even more fun.
As an example, think about how many men or boys have lusted after something like an Ibanez electric guitar, with which they can stand in front of the mirror and imagine themselves to be one of the rock guitar greats. After all, the chances of them actually becoming so are exceedingly small, but the chances of them getting that well-appreciated guitar will be exceedingly large. That guitar will remain cool to them forever.
For the most part, when men enter into serious relationships and the question of children begins to be considered very seriously, it would be hard to find any of them that would consider something as prosaic as baby bath tubs to be something that would be seriously cool. However, go see that man after his child has been born and he’s washed him or her in that tub and ask them then if it is cool.
Almost everything to do with this particular subject also has to do with our particular perspectives about cool and who decides just what is and isn’t. It’s when we let some outside style expert decide for us what we should consider cool that we begin to run into problems. It’s really more a matter of us appreciating the things that we’ve gotten and the pleasure they bring to us and others that matters most.
For instance, how may people actually think a brand-new GE oven is cool like a brand-new sports car would be? At first glance, the answer would be, probably not many. But this doesn’t take into account the reasons for why the oven is being gotten and how much pleasure it can bring to one or both in the relationship who’ve been cooking their food on a creaky old stove.
Maybe a way of better explaining this is to understand how perspective works in our life. Something may be uncool to others but very cool to us because we’ve worked to inject a certain amount of emotional content into the item that we have worked so hard to get. This tends to make just about anything that we’ve worked get remain very memorable, though items that we’ve gotten relatively easily never seem to remain quite that cool.
Keeping things we gather in life ‘cool’ means recognizing that something that’s cool to us may not be cool to others, but that it is no less important to us in both the short and long terms. It might be a stove for which we’ve worked really hard to afford or it could be a cool electric guitar. Whatever it is, they are made much better because we worked hard for them and we’ve done it in the spirit of love and commitment to others.
